SPOTLIGHT ON…

Every week, we shine the spotlight on one of the wonderful people who make up K-Corp to get to know each other better. This week’s spotlight is on Bilal Bakeer, OPS Corporate Operations Officer

Bilal Bakeer

1. Married? Kids? Siblings? How many?
Not married. I have six siblings - five boys and a princess.

2. How do you spend your time after work?
Home, either cooking or watching my favorite series or movie, or reading books, or going out with friends for an excellent cup of coffee.

3. What’s your favorite pastime/hobby?
Playing padel, football, coffee cupping, and singing!

4. One quirky/interesting thing to know about you?
I like to make fun of any misery. If I’m going through a tough time, you can bet I’m cracking a joke about it and hunting for solutions. If life's falling apart, at least let it be funny. I genuinely believe that nothing heals the soul quite like laughing until your stomach hurts.

5. Your favorite aspect/thing about the job/company?
Exploring different challenges with the multiple departments and sister companies – learning, exploring, and improving skills and knowledge.

6. Your least favorite aspect about the job/company?
Not having work organized - messed up deadlines leading to pressure being placed on the team to meet the deadline and finish, as well as inefficient work distribution. I believe there is a need for more education within the company on time management, risk management, and task management.

7. Your one piece of advice for work/workplace?
To empower employees and members of the company with classes and courses to strengthen their knowledge and capabilities to better fit their roles. This would lead to a more successful journey, benefiting the team and the company.

Time Management At Work

Time is the one thing you can’t get more of, and yet, it’s one of the easiest things to lose control of. Meetings that run too long, endless task-switching, non-stop message replies, and full calendars with empty outcomes. It adds up. Good time management isn’t about stuffing more into your day, it’s about making space for what actually matters.

One useful method is Time Blocking, a favorite of top performers and business gurus worldwide. It’s simple: instead of keeping an open to-do list, you schedule every task into a specific block of time on your calendar. That way, you’re not just working from a list, you’re working from a plan. Here are three ways to take control of your time at work:

Own Your Calendar: Block out time for deep work, admin tasks, email, breaks, literally everything. If it’s not scheduled, it’s just a wish. And when you start protecting and respecting your blocks of time, others will respect them too. You’re not being rigid, you’re being clear.

Start With The Anchor Task: Every day has one task that, if done well, moves things forward. Identify that task first thing in the morning and build your day around it. Don’t start with menial tasks like email, social media, or scattered small tasks. Start with what counts. That one move can shift the tone of your entire day.

Audit Your Time Leaks: We all lose time somewhere - scrolling, over-checking messages, unnecessary meetings. Take one workday this week and track where your time actually goes. You might be surprised! Knowing your ‘time leaks’ is the first step to fixing them.

Time isn’t just about output; it’s about attention. Where your attention goes, your day goes. Use it with intention, and you’ll find that time becomes less of a stress point and more of a strength.

You will never find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.
