Perspective At Work
Everything in life is about perspective, how we see things. So, for the same glass of water, a person can see it as half full while another can see it as half empty; it’s just a matter of how you look at it. At work, this is even more so as it affects many different aspects of our day. Here are 3 work aspects that you should look at from a different perspective:
1 - Disagreements - You could take it personally and make it a bigger problem than it is, or you could look at it as a non-personal, healthy exchange of ideas to find the best solution for the issue at hand and, in turn, avoid needless escalation.
2 - Sales - Most people hate selling or being sold to, but everything in life is about sales. Perceive sales as a means of helping others and yourself: You help your clients by solving their problems with your products or services, and you help yourself by knowing and capitalizing on your strengths that benefit your company and colleagues. Hence, by offering the services, you are helping everyone involved.
3 - Collaboration - You could see working with and helping your teammates as a hindrance, or you could look at it as a means for everyone to contribute to the best of their ability to make a great whole. On another note, you could see your colleagues as competitors for your position or recognition, or you could see them as allies in success and life, which would lead to everyone’s benefit.
Nothing is truer than the saying: the world is not as it is but as we are - it really is all a matter of perspective.
