Productivity At Work
Every workday, too much time is wasted on non-productive activities. The 80-20 rule was coined by Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto a hundred years ago, and it states that 80% of your results come from 20% of your time and effort. Here are 5 ways to get rid of non-productive tasks and boost your productivity:
1. Keep a work log for at least a week - Write down all your activities and the time spent doing them. It’s time-consuming initially, but it will give you an accurate picture of your working week.
2. Analyze your activities - Divide your tasks into high priority - those that produce a return or where only you have the skills to do, and low priority - tasks others can do or can be delegated.
3. Delegate non-productive tasks - Delegate as many as possible.
4. Calculate the time required for remaining low-priority tasks - Don’t waste too much time on these tasks.
5. Prioritize your remaining tasks - Concentrate most of your time on the few high-priority activities.
When you follow the 80-20 rule, your productivity will soar.
